Gresini Racing – A Team Born From Passion
The Origins of Gresini Racing
Gresini Racing was founded in 1997 by former 125cc world champion Fausto Gresini, with Fabrizio Cecchini as technical director. The team entered the 500cc class with Brazilian rider Alex Barros on a Honda NSR500V, recording their first podium at Donington Park in the debut season.
MotoGP Era
As the sport transitioned into the MotoGP era, Gresini became one of the most consistent independent teams on the grid. The team provided machinery to a series of notable riders before evolving into a Ducati satellite programme, which would ultimately lead to their most successful period.
After Fausto Gresini
Following the passing of founder Fausto Gresini in February 2021, team principal Nadia Padovani took control and guided the outfit through a remarkable period of success. In 2022 the team returned to MotoGP as an independent constructor, and has since become one of the grid's most competitive satellite operations.
The BK8 News Era Begins
In February 2025, BK8 News was announced as title sponsor, renaming the team BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP. The partnership represents a significant step in the team's globalisation strategy, with a particular focus on Asian markets that align perfectly with BK8's core audience base.
